Below are a few testimonials from our clients’ parents:
Grateful Dog Kennel is THE BEST! It is not like any kennel I have ever taken my dogs to. It is more like a home away from home. Instead of runs or cages, the dogs have their own “rooms”. It’s so great that with more than one dog, they can share the nice big space. Although the” rooms” are very large, they also have exercise time in outdoor runs and go on frequent walks on the beautiful , wooded 9 acres. Shelly and her family truly love dogs and give them so much love and attention. Shelly even gives them peanut butter treats and belly rubs. Because the family lives on the property, they even get late night potty breaks. The best part is there is NO EXTRA FEE all of this extra love and attention, walks, and exercise time. I feel so at ease leaving my dogs at the Grateful Dog Kennel, knowing they are treated like Shelly’s own. She gets to know all the dogs and their personalities. She even posts pictures and videos so we can see our dogs while we’re away. It always brings a smile to my heart to see how much fun my dogs are having. In fact, my dogs are even a bit hesitant to leave when I pick them up. It’s truly like a dog vacation for them. Grateful Dog Kennel truly goes above and beyond to make my dogs’ stay extra cozy and fun!
I don’t give many 5 stars and this is the first time in my dogs 5 year life that I’ve actually needed to take my dog to a kennel but Shelly took amazing care of my dog. I have a Cavachon and he’s very pampered at home so I let Shelly know and she goes out of her way for every dog in her care. She fed him exactly what I asked her to feed him. She played with him and took pictures and video and posted them on Facebook for me to see while I was on my cruise. She walked him 3 times daily and let him play with other smaller dogs in her care. Her facilities are very clean and very roomy. The room for my dog was about the size of a medium walk-in closet so it’s bigger than any kennel I’ve seen…about twice the size of the nickers kennels at petsmart hotel. I was able to relax during the whole week I was gone. The only knock is she is very far from my house (about an hours drive) and the road to get there is rock paved but again I pamper my dog so getting there was worth it for the piece of mind. Also almost forgot to mention she only charges $20 per day which is awesome for what she provides. My dog looked very relaxed and didn’t seem to have any withdrawal syndrome. Thanks again Shelly!
I have been using Grateful for a few years. My dog is very willing to go. Not as willing to come home! If you have a social dog, he/she will make new friends. As the previous review mentioned, the road to get there is VERY country, and can be slick in the winter or bumpy in summer, but the kennel is easy to find.
I’ve been boarding with Shelly for years and highly highly recommend Shelly and her kennel!!! the first time I visited to check out her facility I was astounded at how CLEAN the kennels were inside the building and the outside runs/area. very roomy and Shelly absolutely will take the best care of your pet. my shepherd was going through skin allergies and getting specific foods at specific feeding times. Shelly didn’t hesitate one bit with the care routine needed and took her on runs every day. I also judge a kennel on how my dog reacts when we get out of the car… well no hesitation on my shepherd’s part!!! she RAN to the gate, literally pulled me to get in there!
Great people, very accommodating and easy to work with. Nice drive in the country!
Daisy, our border collie is at home here with people who really care about animals. This is the only place I would board her.
